how small I feel
I had the opportunity to see a lot of stars the other night. I was driving home and made a stop along the way because, well I just had to. The detour wasn't far but it was out in the middle of no where, kinda. There were no lights around me and I stood outside of my car and was amazed at what I saw. Seeing that many stars really makes you see the earth in a different light (no pun intended). Seriously though it really makes you think about how insignificant you are. We are spiraling out of control on the speck of dirt that we call home and usually we have the attitude that we (that is a collective as well as singular) are the most important people/person anywhere in the universe.
To be honest I think I danced, well swayed, kinda swooned a bit while I was pointing my gaze upward. I also believe a "wow" escaped my mouth, to no one in particular. Could I find my place in such a mass of controlled hysteria? I hope so.
I hopped back in my car and rode for a while with the windows down and the heat on, that is fun you should try it. I also picked up this tip from a very close and dear friend, if you are tired put on a pair of swimmers goggles and stick your head out the window. It really does work, it is a funny sight, but luckily if you are tired it is usually dark so you aren't seen by many people. I didn't do that because I don't have my goggles in my car any more, but I thought about it.
Ah man - what was I talking about? oh yeah - stars, universe, feeling small. And that connects to umm...nothing. I have just been feeling pretty puny lately and seeing that sight didn't help much with the insignificant feeling...if you know what I mean.
I did go for a run tonight though and that was good but it made me tired so I should probably say goodnight and I am sorry if I rambled your eyes out.
ddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
Yeah I need to go to bed...you see the above string of "d's"? Yeah it was about 10 times that long before I realized that my middle finger on my left hand was pressing it because apparently I fell asleep with my hands on the keyboard...
Good night.
